Welcome to Day Two of the 12 Days of Christmas: Godly Girl Version! Emma and I are back once again, partnering with @em.graceful to bring to you this lovely series which highlights honoring God in this Christmas season as young women.
Day Two: Honor Him in All
In this Christmas season, it’s so easy to draw inward and focus only on yourself. The world has made Christmas to be more about us and what we can get than anything else. They forget the reason behind it and start promoting everything for you.
A big part of the you-ness comes from social media. We see the “best” of everyone else’s lives — and forget they’re broken humans just like us. We idolize an illusion, striving to make our lives match others' apparent “perfection.”
While enjoying Instagram posts isn’t inherently a bad thing, it can lead us away from being and becoming who God wants us to be. Constantly comparing our God-given lives to others’ can stunt our spiritual growth as we begin to ignore the blessings God has given us.
Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” What we observe with our eyes and think with our mind ultimately affects our hearts. Therefore, we don’t want to overwhelm our minds with toxic or impure things, rather enjoy things that are true, honorable, pure, and lovely.
Take a step back and look at your life. What things in it don’t line up with Philippians 4:8? Make a list of the questionable social media, tv shows, friends, hobbies, and thoughts that cross your life regularly. Take that list to God in prayer, and ask Him to show you what needs to change. Prayer is your lifeline, and a direct connection to God who is in control of it all. Seek Him before you go anywhere else.
Everything we do should honor God, from our hobbies to what we watch to our thoughts. We won’t always be perfect, but we should ask ourselves “is this going to benefit me in my walk with Christ?” If it doesn’t, consider whether it should be removed from your life or just moderated.
Don’t forget Whose you are this Christmas season and make sure to honor Him with your words, thoughts, and actions.
Thank you so much for joining us on Day Two of the 12 Days of Christmas: Godly Girl Version! Make sure to check out Emily's video on Instagram and we hope to see you tomorrow!

100%!
I think music is also a very important thing we should all pay attention too, music hides things in plain sight that if someone saw you listening to that, they would think that, that does not line up with your faith.
