Kingdom Disciple - an anthology

This last year has fulfilled so many dreams in so many ways. Sure, there's been a ton of hard things too, but there's one dream that stands out.

Drumroll please...

Emma and I were published!!!

Last fall, Emma and I got the opportunity to write for a Christian anthology. It honestly didn't feel real until we were holding the books in our hands and looking down at the pages that were inscribed with our names.

The journey to get to the finished book marked a lot of milestones in my life. Starting college, the potential of being published, dating an amazing man, hitting a deer but we don't talk about that one, and starting a ministry.

When we first started the anthology, we were asked which topics we wanted to write about. I listed my favorites and prayed through them, writing descriptions of what I'd say in each option. A few weeks later, I got an email stating my topic.

It wasn't any of the ones I'd listed.

For a while, I questioned God. Like God, I prayed about these and listed the ones I felt called to. How am I supposed to write this other thing when I don't have any idea what to say about it?

The realization crept in slowly. Maybe I was supposed to write this one for a reason. Maybe God wanted me to learn and dig into scripture rather than already knowing everything about it.

So I did. I spent hours searching my Bible, studying my topic, and praying for revelation. A week before the deadline, I still didn't know what to write. I sat down on my bedroom floor with my Bible, a pen, and a paper and I glared down at my notes.

I'd done the work, so those words had better word or else.

I prayed and then the words flowed. I submitted my article the day before it was due.

Looking back, everything was God. From the opportunity to publish, to the topic I was given, to when and how the words flowed onto my paper. I am so incredibly grateful to Him for this opportunity and how He grew me through it.
