12 Days of Christmas: Day Eleven

Updated: Dec 25, 2025

Welcome to Day Eleven of the 12 Days of Christmas: Godly Girl Version! Carine and I are back once again,  partnering with @em.graceful to bring to you this helpful series which highlights honoring God in this Christmas season as young women. We'd love to be praying for you! Please drop a comment below, or contact us privately if you have a prayer request! Christmas arrives each year reminding us of what the world values—busyness, generosity measured by spending, and joy that often feels forced. Yet beneath the lights and traditions lies a deeper question we rarely pause to ask: Who am I? Scripture answers that question by pointing us to Christ.

The birth of Jesus was not simply an event to celebrate; it was a revelation of identity. “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14). God entered human history not in power or prestige, but in humility. In doing so, He redefined worth. Our identity was never meant to be built on performance, success, or approval, but on belonging to Him.

Apart from Christ, we search for identity in roles we play and labels we carry—student, leader, provider, failure, or success. But Christmas declares that Jesus came to restore what was lost. Through Him, we are forgiven, adopted, and made new (2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 8:15). Before we do anything, before we achieve or prove ourselves, we are already known and loved by Him.

Identity comes before activity.

This truth is especially important during the Christmas season, when even believers can subtly measure their value by how much they give, serve, or hold everything together. Our service flows from identity, not the other way around.

When our identity is rooted in Christ, it changes how we live. We find peace instead of pressure, humility instead of comparison, and hope that extends beyond the season. The manger reminds us that God meets us where we are, not where we pretend to be.

This Christmas, examine where you’ve been finding your identity. Lay down any label that Christ did not give you, and choose to live from the truth that you belong to Him. Let your joy flow not from circumstances, but from being firmly rooted in Christ. Thank you so much for joining us on Day Eleven of the 12 Days of Christmas: Godly Girl Version! Make sure to check out Emily's video on Instagram and we hope to see you tomorrow for our last post of 12 Days of Christmas! If you have a prayer request, please let us know!
